VISITOR GUIDE
Everything you need to know before your Mkomazi adventure
Getting There
Mkomazi is accessible by road from Moshi/Arusha via Same Town (Kilimanjaro Region). Road safaris offer classic dryland scenery. Domestic flights can be arranged to nearby airstrips; transfers into the park are available through tour operators.
Accommodation
Choose from special campsites, public campsites, and partner lodges/tented camps in and around the park (Same, Pare & Usambara foothills). Book early in peak seasons for the best options.
Entry Fees
Fees vary by visitor category (citizen, resident, non-resident), age, and activity. Vehicle and camping fees may apply. Check the current TANAPA fee schedule for Mkomazi before you travel.
Regulations
Respect park rules: remain on designated tracks, do not feed wildlife, observe speed limits, and follow ranger/guide instructions. Drones require special permissions and off-road driving is restricted.
Visitor Safety
Travel with a professional guide or tour operator and follow ranger instructions. Carry sufficient water, sun protection, and insect repellent. Wear neutral-colored clothing and avoid walking unaccompanied in wildlife areas.
