Getting There

Rubondo lies in Lake Victoria (Geita Region). Access is typically by boat transfer arranged with the park or licensed operators from landing points such as Nkome/Kasenda, depending on conditions. By air, fly to Mwanza (MWZ) or Bukoba (BKZ), then continue by road to the embarkation site. Charter flights may use Rubondo's airstrip by prior arrangement. Dry season (Jun–Oct) offers more predictable lake conditions; always confirm boat schedules in advance.

Accommodation

Public and special campsites are available on the island (special camps require advance booking). A limited number of partner lodges/retreats operate on or near Rubondo; check availability with your tour operator. Because logistics are island-based, plan resupply (cash, fuel for boats, snacks) before departure from the mainland.

Entry Fees

Fees follow TANAPA schedules by category (citizen, resident, non-resident), age and activity (e.g., boating, guided walks, fishing where permitted). Separate charges may apply for camping, vehicles at embarkation points, guiding and special permits. Verify the latest fees for Rubondo prior to travel.

Regulations

Respect boating speed and no‑wake zones near papyrus and nesting sites. Land only at designated points. Walking must be with authorized rangers/guides. Fishing (where offered) is controlled and may be catch‑and‑release with permits. Drones require prior written permission. Do not feed or disturb wildlife—especially primates and waterbirds.
