VISITOR GUIDE
Everything you need to know before your Nyerere adventure
Getting There
Access Nyerere via road from Dar es Salaam (through Kibiti–Utete) or from Morogoro/Ifakara depending on your gate. 4×4 is recommended, especially in rains. Scheduled/charter flights serve park airstrips such as Mtemere and Kiba—arrange lodge or park transfers in advance.
Accommodation
Options include special and public campsites inside the park and partner lodges/tented camps along the Rufiji River and surrounding areas. Book early for peak season and coordinate boat/game-drive activities with your accommodation.
Entry Fees
Fees depend on category (citizen, resident, non-resident), age, and activity. Vehicle, concession, and camping fees may apply. Check the latest TANAPA fee schedule for Nyerere before travel and carry a valid payment method at gates.
Regulations
Stay on designated tracks, keep safe distances from wildlife, and follow ranger/guide instructions. No feeding animals. Observe speed limits. Drones require special permits. Boat activities operate under river-use and safety guidelines.
Visitor Safety
Follow ranger guidance and wear lifejackets on boat safaris. Keep limbs inside boats and vehicles, and never approach wildlife on foot unless with an authorized guide. Carry water, sun protection, insect repellent, and wear neutral-colored clothing. Check river levels and road conditions during the wet season.
